FAQ

Ceramic Tile Refinishing is the ideal solution to outdated looking bathroom countertops, vanities and walls.

Is there a difference between bathtub refinishing and bathtub reglazing?

No. Bathtub refinishing, bathtub reglazing, tile refinishing or tile reglazing all describe the same process of applying a new finish over a hard surface.

Do you repair chips and scratches in my bathtub?

All Valley Refinishing technicians will fill in most chips or other imperfections in your bathtub or other surfaces prior to the refinishing process, making your damaged porcelain, acrylic, or fiberglass surface look smooth.

How long does your process take?

A typical residential surface refinishing project could take 1-3 days to complete. For comparison, a typical residential kitchen or bathroom remodel project lasts 2-4 weeks. You can see our entire process described in detail in this video

Are you properly licensed to work as a contractor in my area?

All Valley Refinishing is fully insured with liability and workers comp and licensed through CA Contractors State Licensing Board.

Should I do anything special before you arrive?

It is important that you make sure that the surfaces to be resurfaced are as clean as possible. Please clean floors, walls, vents, etc. that may have dust on them. This will reduce the chances of dust or other contaminants falling into the coating. All Valley Refinishing will be cleaning the surface as part of our process. However, we find that the finished product is improved when the surface is reasonably clean when we arrive. Any fixtures (drains, faucets, etc.) that are going to be replaced should be removed or replaced before we arrive.

If something has been refinished before, can it be refinished again?

Yes. But we may have to strip off the old finish. Don’t worry, we see this all the time.

What colors do you offer?

You can find our entire color selection here

How soon can I use my bathroom/kitchen after it has been refinished?

Please wait 24 hours from the last time All Valley Refinishing technician touched the surface before first use.

Will there be fumes or odors from the process?

While we make every effort to keep fumes to a minimum by using industrial-grade exhaust equipment, there will be some odor, especially immediately after the job. These odors will dissipate throughout the day.

How long will my new finish last?

With proper care and maintenance, the finish usually lasts 10-15 years.

Do you use acid etch or a bonding agent?

We use BOTH! We find that this is the most effective and durable method for bonding the new surface to the old. Acid etch opens up the pores in the original porcelain finish, while the bonding agent causes a molecular bond between the two surfaces. It “super glues” the new coating to the old surface.

Do you warranty your work?

Yes. We warranty tubs, countertops, surrounds, and wall tile for 5 years against peeling or lifting of the finish on its own. Do not confuse this with the expected lifespan of your finish. Just like a car will outlive its warranty, your finish can last much longer with proper care.

Do you replace the drain or any other fixtures?

We do not replace or change the drain or any other fixtures. The drain and/or other fixtures should be replaced or changed by you, a licensed plumber, or a handyman before the refinishing job if you do wish to change them.

I have a dripping/leaky faucet. Do I need to have it fixed before the refinishing job?

Yes, you will need to repair any leaking and dripping faucets before the refinishing job. While our coating system dries very quickly, it’s still vulnerable to water drips for the first 4 hours since application.

Can I be present in my home and not be disturbed by fumes and noise?

Yes. We have found that almost all of our customers have no problems while being present when a refinishing job is being performed
